These are my journal entries from a trip to Nepal in October 1987, during which
a friend and I hiked around the Annapurna loop in Nepal. The route climbs
16,000 feet in the first 10 days, and then down 16,000 feet in the next 8 days
-- not counting side-trips.
It has been 15 years since the trip, and I still have not scanned in many
pictures -- unfortunately I took slides, which makes the scanning process a bit
more challenging -- so you'll see this lovely view of Annapurna on many of the
pages.
I can't believe the flood of memories through my brain as I read through
these pages. This journal brings back details of the trip in ways that no
pictures ever could.
To the right I have included links to the books that, together with a faded
blueprint of a topographic map, served as our guides (unfortunately, they
didn't cook or carry our gear). The covers have changed, but the titles
and authors are the same. In the edition we used, "Nepali for
Trekkers" was included as an appendix to "Trekking in Nepal".
